*No prior experience in any of these fields are necessary to participate. Workshops will be streamed online prior to the event and volunteer support will be offered throughout!


Innovation Fair and Networking
Explore new opportunities to get involved in STEAM by meeting industry and post-secondary professionals in our Innovation Fair. In addition, connect with fellow GiSO participants to create strong bonds.
Previous exhibitors have included SHAD Canada, McMaster University, University of Toronto, Quanser, and Microsoft.
Women+ in STEAM Panel
Get inspired by today's leaders in the industry in our Women+ in STEAM Panel. The panel features a group of women from various fields in STEAM, sharing their experiences and insight of the industry and gender representation.
From post-secondary students to CEOs of their own businesses, learn from a variety of perspectives and get advice to help expand your interests and your career in STEAM.

GiSO History
We identified a need for outreach to communities typically underrepresented in STEAM-related workplaces and subsequently began GiSO
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we hosted our first online event in we utilized this new format to expand our reach beyond the Greater Toronto Area and host over 80 participants across Canada. We introduced workshops where students got the opportunity to interact with university-level engineering topics and apply them to bespoke online challenges.

We hosted our largest in-person event to date in the Scotiabank Design Center, where 60 students attended a day full of STEAM-based competition and a networking afternoon
